PToE +A Soldier's Day+ by *paininja:iconpaininja:

Periodic Table of Elements - ♠ [A Soldier's Day] ♠

----------------------------------

Abandoned, he stands there. The last man on the field, and all out of ammo too. The dramatic music begins to play as you see in those movies, and he’s surrounded. Is this the end? No, it can’t be. He had only begun to live! A family at home, brothers and sisters to help care for! Parents that had never let him down! He had to stay alive for them; it was too early to ever let them down. The first bullet comes racing out of it’s barrel and everything becomes blurry.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Three soldiers hit the ground. None of them enemies, but all allies. Where had the last man standing gone? The soldiers stand frozen with fear, their eyes dull and black. This man hovers above him, held like a puppet and dressed in red-splattered paint. His hands are stiff and hold tightly to a shot gun, never to release it from his grasp as he ’s finally shot down among his surrounding enemies.
Another little hand comes from the sky and picks the men up, aligning them again. Of course the story is never over for the ever-determined men when a child is behind the planning. Each soldier is a superhero in his eyes, and all enemies as well. Whatever he wants them to be at whatever moment in time.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
The child chucks three more wood soldiers at the ground again, entertained by the deep sound they make as carved wood hits oak floor. His toys never argue with him, so he’s happy. They never protest when he tosses them across the room with anger, or never praise him when he covers them in blankets. That’s how things are supposed to be. Emotionless. It makes life much easier for everyone.
At least that’s what Polonium thinks of games. No mercy, no remorse, and definitely no cheating. Whoever goes down went down. The motto is not only true within his game sight, but his reality; you know, it comes in the whole mafia package.
Hard to believe isn’t it? A child of twelve belongs to mafia. Polonium never wills it any other way either; the nonsense of being a “normal” kid sparks no interest. He enjoys the feel of a gun when it’s time to play, the sense of chasing his prey, and maneuvering out of danger himself. Protecting his siblings, cousins and leader could never a burden. The skill and talent he possesses is nearly unmatchable.
He stands and bolts out the door, heading towards the delicious aroma that struck his nose only moments ago. The sun is low in the sky and birds chirp cheerfully as morning arrives.
“Good morning!” Polonium giggles and pulls back his dyed hair with heart-shaped clips. The sea-green tint radiates with the sun’s rays and his eyes sparkle with joy.
“Well good morning my little sunshine! I made you your favorite~!” Cesium smiles and kisses his forehead, her fluffy hair caressing his cheeks. Cousin Cesium, although a slight air-head always did the cooking. She had a knack for it.
“Pancakes?” he smiles.
“Pancakes! With a whole bunch of syrup~ I even put in chocolate chips today.”
Polonium lets out a small squeal and sits at the table, watching his biggest brother Tin walk in. Tin runs a hand through his black hair, the tips dyed blood-red and walks over to Polonium, patting his head and sitting without a word. Polonium smiles and waves with his delicate-looking hand.
“I smell something good cooking up in the kitchen!” Bismuth grins as she dances into the room. “Is that my little Polonium, up already? And before me! Well what a little angelic surprise we have here!”
She runs over and hugs him tightly, pinching his cheeks and rambling on about how cute he is, almost completely ignoring Tin until she acknowledges him with a small nod. Her hair, white, greenish, and black is pulled back, although not too neatly. A low rumble comes from the hall and a cursing tornado stalks in. Bismuth plugs Polonium’s ears to avoid the rudeness of her older brother Lead.
Tall and muscular, he’s not someone to mess with either physically or emotionally. Either way you end up beat upon or dead. Depending on who you are.
“Morning Lead!” Polonium smiles, unaware of his gloomy atmosphere.
“Hey kid….” He grumbles, “ We havin’ fuckin’ pancakes again?!”
Cesium smiles and nods. “It’s a generally loved food! Who wouldn’t want it? “
Lead scoffs and goes off with another string of curse words.
“Hey, hey, hey, we really don’t need that this early in the morning Lead.”
Everyone turns to the doorway, where their leader, Lithium stands. Not the most short woman, Lithium runs the place. Her bright orange hair is pulled back in a high ponytail and she remains crisp in her clothes. Despite her appearance, Lithium’s love is intense and powerful for her family. A trait any other leaders barely or don’t have.
Polonium smiles and cocks his head to the side. “I bet Thallium is still asleep! Or he’s crying because there’s some kind of bug in his room …. Hm.”
Lithium smiles and sits across Tin, looking at Polonium. “One way or another let’s let your crybaby brother be. He’ll come down eventually.” He nods in agreement and scarf’s down his maple-soggy pancakes.
Bismuth sits down and looks seriously at Lithium. “It’s today.”
“Today?” she responds.
“Today.”
“You’re joking. It can’t be that soon.” Lithium looks down at her radioactive member. Polonium just smiles in response.
“No, I’m not. It’s today.”
“Then I trust you will handle this correctly?”
Lead leans back in his chair and interrupts with a loud burp.
Shooting a glare at him, Bismuth continues. “I understand Boss. We will make sure he is taken the utmost care of.”
She sighs and looks at the breakfast that’s slowly becoming cold. “Very well,” Lithium says, “ I do trust you all. Polonium, behave, understood?”
Polonium jumps up in his seat. “There will never be a day when I am disloyal to my family! I will be the greatest ever!”
Everyone seems to let out a breath of relief.
“Very well. Then off you go. I wish to see you returned soon, Polonium, and in one piece.” Lithium stares solemnly at everyone before releasing the crushing pressure with a smile.
Bismuth grins and grabs Polonium, heading out to the car. “Okay kiddo! I have the monthly test for you set to today. You ready?”
Polonium squeals and nods; this time of the month is when missions start becoming nearly  impossible. They’re always set upon his shoulders for both experience and because he’s got a strange knack for murder.
Lead stalks out of the building and gets into the driver’s seat. Of course he and Bismuth would attend in case something went wrong. They were always at his side; losing something so valuable could be distressing for the Metals.
“Do I get a new gun?” Polonium eagerly asks.
“Yeah, yeah kid. You get a new gun. I don’t see why the hell I can’t get a new gun yet, but you get a new fuckin’ one apparently.”
Bismuth punches Lead in the arm and glares. “There’s nothing wrong with that of course, Polonium. A new gun means better stability, isn’t that right?”
Polonium smiles, unfazed by his brother’s slight jealousy. Bismuth opens a heavy case and unwraps the encasing. Inside of it, a brand new M16 Rifle sits. A little head pops out from behind Bismuth, eyeing the gun with much praise.
“That’s mine?” he whispers.
Bismuth nods ands smiles, handing it to him. “Be good and get the job done, alright?”
Polonium nods and gets lost within the design as Lead continues to drive. Before long, the sun is beating overhead and the trio is within the deep confinements of buildings. Cars honk constantly, traffic is unbearable, and no one notices when two people go missing. The car stops and Polonium gets out, dressed in darker clothing.
He shoves through people and looks about. Lead and Bismuth follow closely behind, trying to go unnoticed. A couple of times, Lead bursts out in curses at passerby’s.
Polonium stops at an alley, his eyes becoming dull and disinterested with the rest of the world. Without a moment of hesitation he walks in and finds himself face to face with bodyguards twice the width of Lead and even taller as well. They block the entrance to an underground dealing site.
Meanwhile Bismuth and Lead stare from afar, watching their brother’s movements closely.
Polonium walks up, looks at them both before asking ever so gently, “Sirs, is this where I can find Mr. Grey?”
The guards look at each other and raise their eyebrows. Before there’s a moment to respond though, Polonium poises his gun and shoots them both down. It’s then when a mass of men rush out and begin the shortest shootout of their lives. One by one they drop, their mass clunking against cement.
The soldier stands surrounded but unwilling to give up. He continues firing bullets and reloading constantly, able to move almost swiftly out of the way. He can’t lose now. He’s got so much to live for. A family, friends, and a little boy who needs him more than anyone.
Crimson streaks fill the night. His only two allies hold back the cops as best they can. It was warned. This would be the hardest mission of the month. They all stand; loyal to their callings.
